Privacy Policy for Vibrology

Thank you for using Vibrology. Your privacy is important to us. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Android application.

1. Information We Collect

• Accelerometer Data: The app records snapshots of your device's accelerometer data. These snapshots help us analyze motion and vibration patterns.
• GPS Data: The app also records your location data using the device's GPS when a snapshot is taken. This allows us to correlate motion data with geographic location.
• UUID (Unique User Identifier): When the app is installed, it generates a UUID key that uniquely identifies the app on your device. This UUID is included with each snapshot to track the source of the data.

2. How We Use the Information

The data collected is used for the following purposes:

• Data Analysis: The accelerometer and GPS data may be used for motion analysis and related research or service purposes.
• UUID Key Usage: The UUID key is used to associate specific data snapshots with the installation of the app on your device. You can share this key by using the in-app feature to email it or copy and paste it into the Vibrology search page.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties except in the following cases:

• Legal Compliance: We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to legal proceedings.
• With Your Consent: We may share your data with third parties if you provide explicit consent.

4. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. User Control

• UUID Sharing: You have control over whether or not you share the UUID. The app provides a button for you to easily email the UUID or copy it for use with external services (such as vibrology.app’s search page). This action is entirely optional and under your control.
• Location Data: You may opt to disable location permissions for the app, though this may affect its functionality.

6. Data Retention

All accelerometer data, GPS data, and the associated UUID key are automatically sent to vibrology.app's data server when a snapshot is recorded. This data is stored on the server for 72 hours, after which it is automatically deleted, unless the user has flagged the record using one of the four buttons available in the app.

If a record is flagged, it will be retained on the server indefinitely. While users cannot directly delete their flagged data, they can request deletion by sending an email to dba@vibrology.app. Upon receiving the request, we will review and remove the flagged data from our servers.

7. Children’s Privacy

Our app is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

8. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted in the app and will become effective upon posting. We encourage you to review this policy regularly.
